Why IronHorse?

IronHorse is a residential community built in Prineville, Oregon with input from community residents and leaders. Recognizing the need for quality, sustainability, and self-supportive growth in Prineville, IronHorse is an extension of existing neighborhoods in Prineville. IronHorse is a collection of neighborhoods with a wide variety of residential options including apartments, townhomes, and siironhorse-homes-backyard.jpgngle family homes on many lot sizes. Lot sizes for IronHorse single-family homes will average from cottage sized lots at 5,000 square feet to large lots averaging a half-acre.

Brooks Resources Corporation, a real estate company based in Bend, Oregon, is responsible for the planning and development of IronHorse. Brooks Resources, with roots in the original 1916 Brooks-Scanlon lumber company that sparked Bend’s growth for half a century, worked with a premier team of landscape architects, engineers and planners to thoughtfully develop IronHorse with Central Oregon roots in mind. IronHorse is an example of Brooks Resources’ high quality values towards its employees, contractors, and customers. These values are recognized by receipt of the Oregon Business in Ethics Award in 2006 and Oregon Business Top 100 Companies in 2007. Brooks Resources also recently received the Central Oregon Builders Association Green Developer Award of 2009.

As part of the planning for the IronHorse development, a lot has been set aside for a public school. The design also includes space for a commercial center for businesses serving IronHorse residents.

The IronHorse community is governed by a master homeowners’ association (HOA) agreement. With a wide variety of residential options, the residential dues for this IronHorse HOA will have an economy of scale expansive enough to keep dues low. Real estate design, construction, and maintenance in IronHorse is guided and enforced by the Covenants, Conditions, and Restriction standards established by an Architectural Review Committee. With these guidelines in mind, a variety of Central Oregon builders will contribute a diverse selection of architectural styles of a high quality design standard to the IronHorse community.

ironhorse-homes-trails.jpgThe IronHorse growth plan smartly expands the choices in housing and recreation. The IronHorse residential community includes 250 acres of parks and open spaces. The improved parks in IronHorse will be places where recreation and sporting events can occur. The IronHorse open spaces will be managed, offering pedestrians and bicyclists natural and restful surroundings as they explore the extensive trails connecting IronHorse and surrounding neighborhoods.

The trails from IronHorse provide access to Barnes Butte and the federal lands on top. This property has previously been restricted to public access, but Brooks Resources has worked with Cook County Parks and Recreation District and the Bureau of Land Management to ensure managed access from IronHorse to Barnes Butte. The lands on top of Barnes Butte provide expansive views of the Ochoco Mountains, the Cascade Range, and the pastoral land surrounding Prineville.

With close proximity to these various natural treasures, IronHorse is a central location for many recreational activities including hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. These opportunities are all available in the nearby Ochoco National Forest. As well, the Crooked River, flowing through Prineville, is an even closer fishing opportunity for IronHorse residents seeking to catch blue-ribbon trout. The Prineville and Ochoco Reservoirs offer nearby fishing, camping, and water sport opportunities for IronHorse residents. Prineville hosts many private and public golf courses enjoyed by many IronHorse residents. During the wintertime, IronHorse residents can make a short trip to Mt. Bachelor or Hoodoo Mountain Resort for downhill skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.  To learn more about IronHorse and the surrounding area, let an IronHorse residential specialst assist you
