Neighborhood Amenities
Parks & Trails
Central Oregonians love the outdoors and IronHorse will reflect this love, with more than 250 acres of parks and green spaces, the cornerstone of which will be 33-acre Hudspeth Park. Most of these parks will be public, managed by the Crook County, Parks Department and Recreation District and for all of Prineville, Oregon to enjoy. They'll provide places for people to gather and may include neighborhood amenities like picnic areas, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, barbecues and more.
The entire community will be connected by eight miles of multi-use paths. Several of those paths will provide access to a wilderness area atop Barnes Butte that had been virtually inaccessible for many years. Trail design will minimize impact on wildlife habitat, while providing rare 360° views of their Central Oregon playground.
Neighborhood Center
IronHorse leads a movement in neighborhood development based on the idea of complete communities, where people can live, work and play. It's a progressive concept and at the same time, a bit old-fashioned and certainly time-tested.
In addition to planning a residential neighborhood development, we have also set aside up to 30 acres for local businesses, which may include boutiques or cafés—places where residents can get to know their local merchants and each other.
The long-term vision calls for a retail center with a friendly, “Main Street USA” feel. There is also the opportunity for mom-and-pop businesses interspersed throughout the mixed-use community, as you’d see in a vibrant big-city neighborhood.
School
IronHorse plans a new public school—one that we and the Crook County School District hope to be a blended educational campus ranging from primary through middle school. The central location—close to home across from the main park and the neighborhood center—will make it easy for parents to accompany their kids to school and to be involved with their children's education. IronHorse is working closely with the school district to create the most amenable ways to insure the success of the school, a neighborhood amenity that represents one of our larger commitments to the communities we call home. The vision for this new school is a place where children—and the entire community—can discover and realize their potential.
