Prineville, Oregon ranked in the top 20 places to live by American Cowboy magazine
Prineville, Oregon included in national magazine’s choice in best places for active
Western lifestyle enthusiasts
March 4, 2009 (Prineville, Oregon) – American Cowboy, a popular Western lifestyle magazine, included Prineville, Oregon on its second annual list of the twenty best places to live the West. The list was published in its recently released April/May issue and on www.americancowboy.com. The selections were based on criteria for what makes a Western community, well, Western: authentic cowboy culture and charm, a healthy respect for history and heritage, abundant recreational, leisure, and outdoor activities, and a strong sense of community coupled with a freespirited, rugged independence.
“These are some of the attributes that give Prineville its authentic and unique feel that so many have fallen in love with,” said Mark Nyman, principal broker for Brooks Resources Realty, which represents IronHorse a Prineville, Oregon neighborhood. Nyman also lives in Prineville. “In fact, we named our new community IronHorse as a celebration of the independence of the people here, with a nod to the municipally owned railway and our ranching and horse racing heritage.”
According to Bill Garrels, publisher of the magazine, American Cowboy chose places that “embody the magic and spirit that is the great American West.” Each town was also judged for its commitment to honoring, celebrating, and preserving its Western history and heritage.
